A great opportunity to serve your community!

Like any other volunteer organization, we are always looking for new members. Firefighters are outfitted with turnout gear, i.e., coat, pants, boots, helmet, pagers, etc. all at the expense of the fire company.

Not everyone has to run into a burning building to be helpful to the fire company. In fact a majority of the activities do not involve fire related tasks. Ensuring the fire service is ready to respond is probably the single most import thing. Plus there are many other activities involved with being a volunteer, such as:

  • Working our annual carnival
  • Helping with fundraisers
  • Preparing for our annual Santa visit
  • Helping with fire prevention at schools
  • Cleaning the trucks
  • Grant writing

Firefighters respond to the emergency calls, therefore training is a very important aspect of fire fighting. Weekly practices at the fire station, additional classes are offered by the Allegheny County Fire Academy.

Formed in 1947, the Ohio Township VFC Auxiliary contributes greatly to the fire company by holding their own fundraisers, and assisting with regular fire company events.
